How Haysi Arrest Records Are Held
Haysi is small. The 2020 Census counted 484 residents. Yet the town holds an unusual records wrinkle. The Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority, or SWVRJA, runs its Haysi Facility inside the town limits. That's a regional operation, not a town lockup. The Haysi Police Department handles municipal incidents and arrests. For a town incident or arrest record, call the police department first. For intake, confinement, or present-custody questions tied to a Haysi Facility booking, SWVRJA is the route.
Geography can mislead you here. A booking entry tied to the Haysi Facility doesn't mean Haysi Police made the arrest. It doesn't even mean the event happened in Dickenson County. The reverse holds too. A Haysi Police incident may never show up in a particular regional report. When comparing records, keep four things separate in your mind: the arresting agency, the facility, the booking date, and the court case.
Accuracy reminder. A booking entry, a listed charge, or a custody line reflects an administrative event, and what a court later decides can differ from what the roster first showed.
When you contact the town, keep the request narrow. Name the person, give an approximate date and location, and say exactly which item you want; Haysi Police can then tell you whether they're the custodian. Regional confinement material goes to SWVRJA instead. Keeping those requests apart prevents a regional custody result from being mistaken for a Haysi Police arrest report.
Where Haysi Busted Mugshots Are Published
Haysi Police have no official public arrest log. There is no booking-photo gallery, online warrant roster, or police-specific records form in any official channel. That gap matters. A page carrying the Haysi name or a facility address still isn't a municipal police log. Use the official channels below, each for its own job and in that order of authority.
| Official channel | What it can answer | Photo status | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Haysi Police Department | Municipal incident or arrest-record questions | No public gallery verified | Contact the department and ask which custodian holds the requested record. |
| SWVRJA current-inmate route | Current regional custody | No public display policy verified | Open the authority's official route to JailTracker and note the time checked. |
| SWVRJA JailTracker | Current custody or the interface's recent-release option | Do not assume an image appears | Search by name and verify the returned facility and status. |
| DCSO Southwest Busted Report archive | Dated Haysi Facility booking reports | Reports reviewed did not show photos | Use it as an archive of report windows, not a Haysi arrest feed. |
| Haysi Town Clerk / FOIA | Municipal public-record routing | Request-specific under Virginia law | Use the town route when the responsive municipal record is not published online. |
The archive's title is itself a clue about scope. DCSO's Southwest Busted Reports are dated regional booking reports, not a live feed. They can offer a lead on a reported booking window. Nothing more. Present custody, release, bond, arresting agency, and court outcome all require a separate custody check or court record.
Note: No verified official Haysi source promises that an adult booking photo will be posted online or kept available for any set period.
Find a Haysi Busted Booking
Start a lookup from the type of record you need, not just a name. A present-custody question, a municipal report request, and an older booking inquiry each have different answers. The county-wide routes are gathered in the Dickenson County booking and custody guide. The Haysi sequence below keeps the town and regional roles distinct.
- Start with the official SWVRJA current-inmate route for a time-sensitive regional custody question. Use a full name when available and record the date and time of the result.
- Confirm the facility and the status shown. A Haysi Facility result identifies a regional custody location, not necessarily a Haysi Police arrest or a Dickenson County event.
- For an older report-window lead, check the DCSO archive and retain the report date. Treat booking dates and report dates as different fields.
- For a town incident or arrest record, contact Haysi Police with a specific date range, location, and request type. Ask whether another office is the custodian if the department does not hold it.
- For the charge outcome, search the official court system rather than inferring a result from booking language or an absence from JailTracker.
Search results can be stale or incomplete. A miss might come from name spelling, a transfer, a release, a protected record, or custody in another location. That's why a current roster query rarely answers an older event question. Never settle identity on a photograph or a town label alone. Keep juvenile information out of any request or comparison.
Haysi Police Arrest Record Requests
No dedicated Haysi Police online records form appears in the town's official channels. Send a municipal incident request to Haysi first. Route any intake or confinement question to SWVRJA if the booking happened at the Haysi Facility. The town's Clerk / FOIA page is the municipal records route. Its FOIA rights document spells out actual costs, personnel and copy fees, and a possible deposit of up to $200 where applicable. It offers no police-specific online form and no promise that every record is available.
Haysi Police Department
Office: 162 Backbone Ridge, Haysi, VA 24256. Mail goes to P.O. Box 278, Haysi, VA 24256. The non-emergency line is 276-865-7101. For nights and weekends, call DCSO dispatch at 276-926-1650.
FOIA requests for Haysi arrest records go through the Town Clerk, Amanda Perrigan. She works out of 162 Backbone Ridge in Haysi. Written requests can be mailed to P.O. Box 278, Haysi, VA 24256. Reach her at 276-865-5187, weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Put the basics in writing before you send anything. Include the person's full name. List the date span and the place the event occurred. State what you want: an incident record, arrest details, or an adult booking photo. Not sure which office holds the file? Ask the records custodian to point you there, since some material sits with SWVRJA or another authority instead. Get a written estimate of fees, any required deposit, and the statutory response window before you budget time or money on the request.
One caution on phone numbers. Older county-directory listings can lag behind. The department's own contact page is the safer bet. If the published non-emergency line rings dead, try the town's main route or verify the number some other way. A stale listing will waste an afternoon.
Haysi Busted Reports and Current Status
Haysi hosts the regional jail, but that fact trips people up. An archived Southwest Busted Report is a regional snapshot, not a Haysi Police arrest log. It is not a live custody check either. A DCSO-linked report can list names, booking dates, the facility, booked charges, and report-level details. It will not tell you who made the arrest, what happened in the incident, whether the person is still held, when release came, the bond, the court outcome, or confirm a photo.
Match the tool to the question. For current custody, use JailTracker through the official SWVRJA route and remember the result is time-sensitive. For historical regional bookings, ask the jail authority directly. For a town incident, ask Haysi Police. Even when the facility name and the town name appear side by side, these sources do not swap.
Retention rules add another wrinkle. The Library of Virginia's GS-08 retention schedule governs how long local jails keep records on paper, but keeping a file is not the same as posting it online. The schedule promises no public display window, does not override confidentiality, and cannot defeat a later sealing order. So read gaps carefully. A missing online entry does not mean nothing happened, and an archived entry does not mean anyone is still in custody.
Note: Keep the source date and access time handy when you compare a regional booking report against a current-custody result.
Haysi Booking Photos: Request Rights, Not a Gallery
Virginia law gives the public a request route for booking photos. The statute, § 2.2-3706, covers disclosure of certain adult law-enforcement information, including routine intake photographs, though it comes with limits and exceptions. It does not promise that a Haysi photo sits online. Nor does it say which office holds one. Release is not automatic in every case. The practical move is to ask the responsible police department or regional jail whether an adult record exists and can be released. Juvenile material falls outside this process entirely.
For a town-police record question, use the official Haysi Police Department contact page as the municipal route.
The contact page shows a way to reach the department. Nothing more. It is not a mugshot gallery or an arrest roster. No official Haysi Police public log has been verified, so treat the page as a doorway for a direct records inquiry.
A booking image alone settles little. Identity, date, agency, custody status, and court outcome each need confirmation from the proper official source. If a custodian says a record is sealed, protected, or nonresponsive, follow that office's instructions rather than hunting for the material somewhere else.
Dickenson County Busted Charges Need Court Follow-Up
A booked charge is just the first page of the story. What the court decides is what counts in the end. The official Dickenson combined-court page gives you the local court route, while the statewide Virginia case-information portal is the natural first stop for a public case lookup. Bring a case number if you have one. Then check the court and charge details carefully before assuming a docket entry matches a particular booking.
- Booking date
- The date a custody system records an intake. It may differ from the date of an arrest or the date of a report.
- Current custody
- A time-sensitive regional status shown by the official jail system, not a final result in a criminal case.
- Disposition
- The court’s recorded resolution. It is the appropriate place to check whether a charge was amended, dismissed, resolved, or remains pending.
Haysi searches blur several layers that deserve to stay separate. The regional facility sits in town. Municipal policing handles local incidents. Dickenson County courts run on their own track. A dated booking report can exist with no current custody behind it. A current-custody result can appear with no Haysi Police event attached. A court case can end differently from the original booked charge, too. Hold those distinctions firmly before trusting any single record.
State-prison and supervision questions call for a different tool. The VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator tracks people in state custody or under community supervision. It is not a Haysi arrest log or a regional booking source.
